Obituaries » Margarita (Maggie) F. Hernandez
August 24, 1959 - July 21, 2018
On the eve of July 21, 2018, God called His angel, Margarita F. Hernandez, known to many as Maggie, home at the age of 58. Our matriarch went peacefully to meet our creator after a long battle of multiple illnesses.
Maggie was born on August 24, 1959 to Manuel T. Flores and Asencion P. Martinez in Edinburg, TX. She attended schools in Beeville and Mission, Texas, however the most important lessons of life our Queen learned, was at the school of life.
Those who knew Maggie know she loved to cook and blare her music. Devoting herself to the well-being of her children and grandchildren was her pride and joy. Rocking her grandbabies to sleep while taking a nap herself, was an all-time favorite. No matter what she was going through, it brought her great joy to uplift and make those around her laugh. She was so mischievous and all in good fun, anyone who was around her was in for a real treat. Maggie was the type of person who always saw the good in any situation life threw at her. She was not only our confidant, but the confidant of so many, who sought her wisdom and guidance.
Maggie was employed at several different establishments throughout her life, to name a few: Nursing Home – about 15 years, Arby’s, Albertsons, Rolling Pin Bakery, Holly Sugar- Ter Lab, and Hurricane Lanes. Her children remember her dedication in ensuring they had their necessities met, even if it took her working two jobs.
She is survived by children: Audelio, Saul, Lucia (Nuco “Nukies”) Luna, Ramon, and Leonardo Hernandez. Ten grandchildren: Kelia, Amaya, Aadan, Aliya, Gabriel, Naya, Breckin, Demetri, Elijah, Noah, and Bridger. Her brothers: Victor (Ida) Flores and Juan (Celia) Flores; her sisters: Noelia Mendoza, Armandina (Acasio) Martinez, Trinidad (Antonio) Mendoza; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, her brothers: Oscar, Gregorio, Guadalupe, Cristobal, and Miguel Flores and her sister, Manuela Garza, and her two Angel babies.
While we know through our faith she is at peace and in a much better place than we are, it still leaves an enormous hole in the lives not only of her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews, but also all of those whose lives she touched in anyone of her many adventures this life granted to her. Our beloved SUPERWOMAN will be greatly missed.
