Tom has been associated with the funeral industry for over 40 years, and worked for the original Noecker Funeral Home in Gillette in the early 1970s. Born and raised in Lovell, Wyoming, Tom attended Northwestern Community College and California College of Mortuary Science (now Cypress College), graduating in 1973.

Tom and his wife, LoisAnn, have five daughters and one grandson. He has lived in Gillette and Sheridan for over 20 years and is committed to serving these communities. He is also part owner of two Gillette funeral homes: Walker Funeral Home and Gillette Memorial Chapel.

LoisAnn Walker — Owner, Office Manager, Funeral Assistant

LoisAnn enjoys working with families in her various roles at Champion Funeral Home. She is very happily married to Tom Walker, the love of her life, and enjoys the blessing of being a wife and mother. She and Tom have five children, all girls, and one grandson, who they enjoy being with whenever possible. Tom brought her to Wyoming in 2000 and now… she can actually say she loves it here in Sheridan!

She grew up in California, one of five children, and lived close to the ocean where she loves to go and vacation (any beach that is WARM) whenever she gets the opportunity. She loves family, immediate and distant, and attends family gatherings as often as she can. LoisAnn loves interacting with people, traveling, reading, music, quilting, knitting, painting, and basically any crafty project you can think up. She enjoys sports, loves swimming and walking, and last but not least, shopping!

After graduating from high school, LoisAnn received her AA degree in Interior Design and Drafting, from Ricks College, in Rexburg, Idaho. Then she went on to BYU and Utah State, majoring in the same. She enjoys working in the funeral business and is looking forward to serving the needs of the Sheridan community for many years to come.

Kimberly Kozel — Funeral Director, Embalmer

Kim was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to Sheridan with her family in 1970. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1983. She has been associated with the funeral industry for 20 years. Kim graduated from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis with a BS degree in Mortuary Science and from the University of Montana in Missoula with a BA degree in Psychology. Most of her funeral career has been spent in Washington State from 2000 to 2012. She returned to Sheridan in 2012, after working for Beck’s Funeral Home in Edmonds, WA, so that she could become a full-time caregiver for her mother, Betty, up until her death in 2013.

She feels privileged to offer the highest quality funeral services to the Sheridan community and plans to continue doing so for many years. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church and PEO Chapter AM. Her interests include: attending classical music concerts, golfing, rowing (in Seattle), softball, and embracing a passion for aviation.

Kim is the daughter of Floyd Olson, of Two Harbors, MN (formerly of Sheridan); and the late Betty (Wulff) Alden. Her brother, Erik and his wife Katie Olson and their children: Jake, Kendall and Avery reside in Snohomish, WA.

Erik Bergquist — Family Planning Counselor

Erik is originally from South Point, Ohio, and moved to Wyoming in 1990 to be closer to family. In 1993, Erik began working for KGWY Fox Radio as a morning drive announcer and Operations Manager for the company. In 2003, he began working for Personal Frontiers, Inc., a substance abuse/addiction treatment facility. Later, he worked for the Gillette News Record, assisting in the design and advertising of the News Record’s website.

Having lived in Wyoming for more than 20 years, Erik has been very involved in almost every aspect of the community, from theater to working with the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce.

The compassion and enthusiasm that he brings to his position of Family Planning Counselor here at Champion Funeral Home, and also at Gillette Memorial Chapel and Walker Funeral Home, are shown through his deep appreciation for life. Erik is honored to assist families as they plan for the future and establish their final wishes.
