July 21, 1929 - August 11, 2016
Almira L. “Myo” Briggs passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Sheridan, Wyo. She was born July 21, 1929 in Hardin, Mont. Myo moved to Kirby, Mont. through 1943 before finally moving to Sheridan, Wyo. where she graduated high school in 1947.
Myo married William W. “Bill” Briggs on April 29, 1950 and was blessed with one daughter, Betsy Briggs Major, and one son, Robert S. Briggs. She had three grandsons, Matt Briggs, Tyler Briggs, and Mark Truax, and most recently a great-granddaughter, Holly Briggs.
Myo and Bill settled in Dayton, Wyo. where they were active members of the community for nearly 35 years.
Myo had a deep love for the Town of Dayton. She served as a member of Dayton City Council from Jan. 1999 to Jan. 2003; provided continual leadership to Dayton Days, including serving as chair from 2001 to 2002; and was active with the local Rotary, the Benefit Club, and the Senior Center. Over the years, from behind the scenes and with no desire for recognition, there is no aspect of Dayton Myo did not touch.
Myo was loved in the Dayton community. While gone, her spirit and dedication will remain strong with everyone she touched. Myo’s generosity lives on after death as she was a tissue donor.
Myo was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Robert Roebling; her two brothers, Richard and Theron Roebling; and her husband, Bill.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Champion Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Elks Cemetery in Sheridan with Hospice Chaplain Jack Burke officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations may be made in Myo’s name to the Dayton Senior Center, Tongue River Valley Community, PO Box 792, Ranchester, WY 82839 or Tongue River Library, PO Box 909, Ranchester, WY 82839.
