Janet B.C. Moffat, age 96, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital, with family by her side.

She was born on December 6, 1919, in Carmyle, Scotland to John and Mary Buchanan Moffat. She attended school in Scotland and worked various jobs in Glasgow. As a young girl, she was raised in a church house in Glasgow along with her brothers and sisters. She eventually moved to London before leaving for the United States. On May 13, 1958, Janet arrived in Sheridan, Wyoming where she resided for the remainder of her life. Janet was a dedicated employee at The Bank of Commerce which became First Interstate Bank until her retirement at age 70. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, and rarely missed a Sunday service.

Janet never married or had any children, but was dedicated to her family and the many friends she made in Sheridan. She was adventurous and loved travelling on her own. She especially cherished her time spent in New York City, and her experiences abroad in Europe. She passionately loved her family, and was very fond of her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and even great grandnieces and grandnephews. In her later years, she immensely enjoyed her time with her special love, Sy Thickman. They had a loving, unique and meaningful relationship that brought them immeasurable satisfaction. They shared a mutual adoration for each other, and sincerely appreciated the life and adventures afforded to them. They shared a desire to see the world, and did so on numerous occasions. Janet was known for her quick wit, amazing stories and a remarkable memory. Visiting with her was always entertaining for anyone fortunate enough to know her.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters, brothers and her niece. She is survived by her special love, Sy Thickman, niece Jean (Brian) Morgen, grandniece Maggie (Jay) Bergstrom, grandnephews Graham Groshart and Stephen (Meredith) Groshart, great grandnieces and nephews, Alivia, Evan, Baylor and Logan and numerous nieces and nephews in Scotland.
