La Rae M. (Lewis) Hall (1934-2016)
La Rae M. (Lewis) Hall, 82, of Sheridan, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at Sheridan Manor.
La Rae was born in Warwick Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, to Reynolds and Catherine (Mutter) Lewis on February 27, 1934. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, W. Baker and Mary Lewis. After graduating high school in 1951, she attended the National College for Christian Workers in Kansas City, Missouri, studying music and drama. La Rae eventually made her way to Sheridan, Wyoming, and was employed by the Eaton Dude Ranch, allowing her to pursue her dream of working with horses. La Rae met her husband, Levi Hall, while staying at the Gallatin Ranch, and the two were married January 1, 1960. They welcomed a son, Patrick, in 1961 while living in Leiter, Wyoming. After moving back to Sheridan, La Rae, along with her husband, owned and ran the Hall Appaloosa Ranch in Woodland Park. She also worked as a legal secretary for attorney Henry Burgess and was an accomplished author.
La Rae was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Levi Hall, her parents, her brother, Burle M. Lewis, one half-brother and three half-sisters, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
La Rae is survived by her son Patrick and daughter-in-law Beth (Williams) Hall, of Great Falls, MT, and her granddaughter, Janelle Hall, of Sheridan.
