Mildred Mary McAllister Briggs

Mildred Mary McAllister Briggs was born in Moorcroft, WY on December 22, 1913 and passed away in Idaho, March 27, 2016 at the age of 102.  She passed peacefully Easter Sunday, surrounded by family.

As a young woman, Mildred moved to Sheridan, WY where she married Eugene Briggs in May of 1936 and raised two children – Vivian and Stuart.  She spent several winters in Lake Havasu, AZ and summers in Sheridan, WY with her husband, Eugene, who passed away in August 1994.

In 2008, Mildred moved to Billings, MT and lived with her son, Stuart and daughter-in-law, Pam Briggs and in 2010, Mildred moved to Bellevue, Idaho, to live with her daughter, Vivian and son-in-law, Bill Bobbitt.  While living in the Wood River Valley, Mildred went to the Blaine County Senior Center and Senior Connection five days a week, where she loved to go, and had many friends there.

Mildred, a loving and wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, leaves behind her daughter, Vivian, and husband Bill Bobbitt and their two children, Michelle Bobbitt and Devin Bobbitt, his wife, Sandra, and their three children, Brandon, Kailyn and Rylee; and Mildred’s daughter-in-law, Pam Briggs, and her two sons, Ben and Joe.

Mildred was a strong woman.  She was born premature at four pounds and survived Bright’s disease, also known as nephritis, as a child; both were said to end her life before her teenage years.  Mildred enjoyed singing in the Presbyterian choir in Sheridan, bowling, golf and knitting.  She was a member of the Sheridan Elks club and was a founding member of Youth Incorporated in Sheridan and was involved and volunteered for Girl Scouts and Akcita Win.  A very friendly and welcoming person who touched many lives and made friends where ever she may be, she was a bright light and always did everything to make the world and the lives of others better.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Vivian McAllister; her great aunt and grandfather who raised her, Nellie Smith and Charles Smith; her brother, William McAllister; her two sisters, Louis Thorne and Janet Crawford; her husband, Eugene Briggs; and her son, Stuart Briggs.
