Norma Jean Fort, 91, of Sheridan passed away on December 15, 2014 at Westview Healthcare Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on April 27, 1923 to William O. and Gladys (Addleman) Cochran.

She attended grade school and junior high school in Sheridan before moving to Laramie, Wyoming where she graduated from Laramie High School in 1942. She then moved to Whittier, California with her parents where she went to work at a glider factory during World War II in addition to a pottery plant. When the war was over she moved back to Sheridan where she married Elbert Earl Fort on June 20, 1953 in Buffalo, Wyoming. Her and her husband went on to purchase a dairy on Beaver Creek with her parents until they sold out  in 1961 to purchase a new piece of property and go into the haying business. She then became a homemaker and the couple raised 5 children. In 1975, her husband passed away and she continued to raise her children on the couples’ property.

In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, reading, going for rides in the country, and family gatherings especially Christmas Eve. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a younger brother, Bill, an infant sister, and her husband. She is survived by her 5 children; Randy (Barbara) Fort, Gary (Tiffany) Fort, Sherry (Joe) Mentock, Tammy (Ken) Carlson, and Kelly Fort, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday December 22, 2014 at 10 am at Champion Funeral Home. Private family burial to follow.
