Betty Reichert was born May 13, 1932 in Dayton, Wyoming to Opal Y. Ratcliff and Paris W. Ratcliff. Betty Spent the vast majority of her life in Dayton, Wyoming with brief stints in Alaska in the 1960’s to support her husband’s work. She was one of seven children in her family. At age twelve, she was the youngest member of the all-female volunteer fire department in Dayton during World War II. Betty graduated in 1950 from Dayton High School and married Chris Reichert in July of 1950. They later divorced. Betty was a stay-at-home mother until her children were grown, then she worked at the YMCA, Wal-Mart and retired from Kraft’s Jewelry in Sheridan. She had many loves in life – most notably gardening and dancing. She was able to continue using her gardening skills while being cared for and living in the Scott Cottage at Greenhouse Living where she made many friends in her fellow residents and caretakers. |
