Billie E. Hollenbeck, 87, of Sheridan passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at Sheridan Manor.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Anderson officiating. Memorials may be made to: Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation, 1401 W. 5th St., Grace Baptist Church, 1959 E. Brundage Ln., or Sheridan Senior Center, Day Break, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
She was born June 4, 1927 in Batesville, MS to Henderson Y. and Eunice R. (George) Hendrix. Billie attended and graduated from high school in Batesville and then attended several colleges. She married Jack Hollenbeck on November 25, 1943 in Granada, MS. After they were married, the couple moved to Chicago while Jack was serving in the U.S. Army. In 1973, the family moved to Akron, NY. Billie worked for ASCS while in Akron and later returned to Billie’s hometown of Batesville. While there, they bought a farm and raised soy beans and cattle. During this time, Billie began working for the Farmers Home Administration as a loan officer. In 1978, she accepted a transfer with FHA and the family moved to Torrington, WY. Then in 1981, Billie and her family moved to Sheridan, WY. Six years later, in 1987, Billie retired from the Departments of the Army and Agriculture.
Mrs. Hollenbeck was an active member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a volunteer for over 20 years and 3,000 hours of service at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Billie also, was a member of Good Sams, the Homemakers Assoc., and the Red Hats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; two sons, John and Brian; a grandson, Justin; and three sisters, Dot Innis, Laura Tranum and Oselle Davis. Billie is survived by her son, Joel (Tamie) Hollenbeck of Sheridan, WY; grandchildren, Matthew and Brea Anne Hollenbeck of Powell, WY; a great granddaughter, Raelyn; Jody Hollenbeck; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
