About:
Charles G. Barker passed away on May 29, 2014.
He was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, on September 1, 1951, to parents Gabriel B. and Esther E. Barker, and was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He was a long time resident of Sheridan, and lived in RENEW group homes for many years; he loved participating in many of their activities, especially summer camp and Special Olympics. His work ethic was exemplary, and he took great joy in going to RENEW supervised work each day. His last years were spent at Sheridan Manor, where he was attended to most lovingly by the staff.
Most of all, Charles loved his family, and looked forward to time spent with them. He relished time spent with siblings and cousins at his grandparents' ranch, especially any activity which involved horses. His family is grateful to him for the acceptance and patience he taught them, and they cherish the memories of his delightful behavior, and cheerful demeanor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by siblings Karen Johnson and husband Frank of Sheridan, Ben Barker and wife Callie of Durango, Colorado, Evonne Zahedi and husband Mostafa of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Cheryl Nelson and husband Rod of Omaha, Nebraska, as well as eight nieces and nephews, five great nieces and nephews, one aunt and several cousins.
Memorials in his name may be made to Martin Luther Grammar School at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sheridan, or to RENEW in Sheridan.
A memorial service in his honor will be held in July.
