About:
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great grandfather and Friend went to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, May 22nd, 2015. He was born in Bismarck, ND on May 27th, 1942 to Roy Just and Elaine Dettmann of New Salem, ND. He grew up in New Salem with his younger brother Michael Just.
Upon graduation, he attended Dickinson State, where he received his teaching degree and started teaching in Mohall, ND. He married Laura
Miller on April 28, 1967, and they welcomed a daughter, Nancy Nicole. They then moved to Sheridan, WY for a teaching job at Central Junior High School, where he taught math and science for 35 years.
Darnell was an active member of The Elks Club, where he went through the chairs and was Exulted Ruler in 1981. He also, belonged to several other organizations and believed in being of service to the community. He cared about his students and kept track of their accomplishments. He referred to his former students as "one of my kid's."
He met and married the love of his life, Norma Horinek in 2001, and gained four more "daughters," Natalie Sonderby, Melanie, Stephanie and Kristi Haase. After retirement, he loved to have morning coffee with his cronies, and swap stories and lies.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Norma; Nancy Kelly (Mike) and grandchildren, Alex and Makayla; Natalie Sonderby (Mike) and their children, Michael, Danielle Whisenand, and Amanda; and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Laura, and his brother, Michael Just.
A Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Champion Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. A Reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
