Edgar Gary Robbins

E. Gary Robbins, 72, of Sheridan passed away on Thursday, Jan. 1 at Green House Living surrounded by his family. He was born on March 5, 1942, to Wilbur P. and Caryl G. (Thompson) Robbins in Buffalo.

Gary attended school in Buffalo and graduated from Jonson County High School in 1960. He also attended Sheridan College for two years and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1964 with a bachelor’s of science degree in soils. Afterwards, he went to work for UW as a soils tech.

Gary married Linda Jeffers in 1962 and two children came from that union. He later married Linda Marshall.

He worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Riverton, Powell, Lusk, Medicine Bow and Sheridan. From 1973 to 1991, Gary worked for PKS in the Reclamation Department. Later, he worked for BHJ Real Estate, Total Comfort, Sheridan School District No. 2 and the Wyoming Highway Department. He also owned and operated Dream Catchers Studio in Dayton.

Gary was an elder and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sheridan. He loved his family, friends and animals. Gary was known as a kind, loving and gentle spirit. He enjoyed music and singing, the land, being outdoors and working with his hands.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary is survived by his son, Randy (Nicole) Robbins of Gillette; daughter, Renee (Junior) Garcia of Gillette; two stepchildren, Matthew Legerski of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Tina Legerski of Sheridan; siblings, Jacque Stevenson of Buffalo, Myrna (Jerry) Saunders and Don (Barbara) Robbins, all of Sheridan, and Caryl (Scott) Stafford of Green Valley, Arizona; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 5 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheridan with the Rev. Doug Melius officiating.
