Emma E. Brenneman

Emma Elizabeth Brenneman, 85, of Sheridan, Wyoming, died Friday, August 16, 2013 in Westview Health Care Center.

Mrs. Brenneman was born March 3, 1928 on the family homestead near Killdeer, North Dakota to Harris and Katie (Dirkach) Kukla. She attended a rural school on family property near Killdeer. Emma was the oldest of 8 children. She helped out on the family farm with raising her younger brothers and sisters, milking cows, and doing chores.

Emma was an elementary school teacher. She taught in the rural schools while earning her degree at Dickinson State College. She then taught in North Dakota, Montana, and in Sheridan for a total of 38 years. Emma also taught Sunday school.

She met Lloyd Brenneman at an American Legion picnic in 1960 and the couple were married in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheridan on December 29, 1962.

Mrs. Brenneman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the service club, the quilter's group, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Violet Club.

She enjoyed her plants, gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, canning, and serving meals to her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Harris Kukla, Sr., and Katie Kukla Kohones; one brother, William Kukla; and her husband, Lloyd Brenneman.

She is survived by two sons, Matt Brenneman and wife, Carletta, and their children Kaytlyn and Alexyn of Post Falls, Idaho, Mark Brenneman and wife, Linda and their children Morgan, Bailey, Marissa Brenneman, Alecia Roush (Brock) of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Tyler Munson of Benton City, Washington; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Kukla (Ardis),of Killdeer, North Dakota, and Harris Kukla, Jr. (Eileen) of Garrison, North Dakota; four sisters, Ida Erickson, of Seattle, Washington, Ruth Jordan, of Glendive, Montana, Inez Bobb (Bruce) of Belgrade, Montana, and Edna Lawhead (Gary) of Killdeer, North Dakota.

Visitation for Mrs. Brenneman will be from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Wold officiating. Interment will be in the Elk's Section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials in memory of Emma may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
