John E. Williams, of Sheridan, WY died Sunday, August 24, 2014, in the V.A. Medical Center, Sheridan, after a long illness.

John was born on May 24, 1934, in Moorcroft, WY to Charles and Mabel Williams and grew up in Sheridan. He worked on ranches when he was quite young. John served in the U.S. Army for 12 years serving in Korea and Viet Nam. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and served for 8 years. John married Evelyn Root on St. Paul, MN in 1960. They lived in many places including Italy and Greece. They moved to Sheridan in 1972. He worked for Hammer's Chevrolet and then for the V.A. Medical Center boiler plant for nineteen years. John enjoyed cars, reading, fishing and camping.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard and sister Lucille.

John is survived by his wife Evelyn; daughters Jean (Wm. Blake) Coones of Boise, ID, Beth (Patrick) Hall of Great Falls, MT and Linnaea (Mark) Court of Cheyenne, WY; sister Ann Gorzalka; brother James Williams; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:00am on Thursday (Aug. 28th) from Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Wold officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Military honors are by the American Legion and Wyo. National Guard.
Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
