John "Harmy" Beld
About:
John Harm “Harmy” Beld went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 26th at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo, WY.
John was born on October 23, 1922 in Lodgepole, SD on the family homestead. He was born to Weitze and Lucy (Widenaur) Beld, the eighth of nine children. He was in the CCC’s, Civilian Conservation Corp during WWII. He married Irma A. Komm on January 6th 1945 in Baker, Montana. Together they had 6 children, Rickie L. (Louise) Beld, Carol Ann Ellis, Linda G. Beld, Susan K. Beld, Donna L. Hoover (Mike) and David John Beld.
John & Irma started out their life together on the family farm at Lodgepole and lived there a couple of years before moving to Casper Wyoming. They purchased their first truck and house trailer and followed the road construction business over much of Wyoming, making lifelong friends and acquaintances in the process. In 1962, they purchased their first house and put down roots in Sheridan where they raised their family. John owned and operated John H. Beld Trucking until 1999 when he retired. John loved his work and he always missed it after he retired; he did enjoy meeting the guys for coffee, irrigating and mowing the yard and puttering around the garage. John and Irma were members of the First Assembly of God church and they loved their brothers and sisters in Christ. They lived south of Sheridan on “their little acre” until Irma passed away in 2001. John continued to live there on his own with his faithful puppy-companion Gus until after his 90th birthday. In March of this year when he could no longer live alone, he went to the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, where he resided until his death.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Irma of 56 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two half-sisters Mary and Annie and half-brother Garrett, and brothers John W, Henry and Elke, and sister Jane. He was also preceded in death by his grandson William John Beld of Big Horn and great granddaughter Sierra Lillian Blomquist of Sheridan.
Surviving family members include his sister Bertha Kysar of Battleground WA, 6 children, 7 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John will be greatly missed by his family, friends and loved ones.
