WASHINGTON - John Bartlow of Sheridan, WY, formerly of Washington, left this world in the arms of his loving wife, Judith, and his dog, Rippy, beside him on Monday, June 18, 2018.
He was born in Fort Carson, CO, on December 3, 1951, to Kent Bartlow and Phyllis Mugge Bartlow.
He is survived by his dear sister, Marilyn and brother-in-law, Peter Welch, of Taos, NM; and brother, Steve Bartlow of St. Louis, MO.
John attended Missouri Military Academy. He graduated from Washington Community High School in Illinois and machinist school in Tennessee. John honorably served in the Army in Germany.
He was a hunting guide in the Bridger Teton Wilderness and a fishing guide on the Clinch River in Tennessee. John was a voting member of the Knifemaker's Guild since 1988 and a voting member of the Professional Knifemakers Association since 2002.
He loved mules and trail riding with his friend, Ronnie Wallace; fly fishing on the Big Horn River with Ken Decker; laughing over hunting adventures with Randy Haecker; and playing "chicken foot" with all his domino pals. He was a "car guy" - passionate about GTOs. Judith and John were married 34 joyous years.
John leaves to celebrate his life all the loving and rowdy friends of his youth in Washington, Illinois, and special friend, Deb Fox. In 2011, he organized a reunion of friends in Washington, Illinois, "WCHS Multi-Class Reunion." "John Bartlow Summer Bash #7."
He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Joanne (Charles) Zeiser of Signal Mtn., TN, Mary Eleanor (William) Hurt of Knoxville, TN, and Sarah (William) Cowan of LaGrange, TN; and 9 nieces and nephews. Ken Decker, Tina Flack and Ann Loretan were steadfast, devoted friends through his brief illness.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
