Lyle W. Hammond

Lyle Walter Hammond, 74, of Dayton, Wyoming, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Hammond was born September 7, 1938 in Thermopolis, Wyoming to Curtis and Pauline (Dockery) Hammond. He grew up and attended school at the Slack School on Pass Creek near Parkman, then five years at the J. E. School in Wamsutter, Wyoming, then four years in Thermopolis graduating from Thermopolis High School. Lyle then enlisted in the Army from 1958 through 1960.
He married Janet Lawler in Thermopolis on September 1, 1962.
Mr. Hammond was a cowboy and outfitter in Wyoming and Montana. He was a member of the Elk's, Outfitters of Wyoming, National Rifle Association, the American Legion, and various rodeo and roping clubs. Lyle enjoyed rodeoing, hunting, fishing, roping, and chariot racing.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson.
He is survived by one son, Kurt Hammond, of Ranchester, Wyoming; three daughters, Darla Hammond, of Dayton, Wyoming, Carla Fried, of Fort Mohave, Arizona, and Kyle Hammond, of Worland, Wyoming; one brother, Ray Hammond, of Cody, Wyoming; one sister, Barbara Shuck, of Maricopa, Arizona; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Memorial service for Mr. Hammond will be 10:00 A. M. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Pastor Leo Hammond officiating. Military rights will be by the Wyoming National Guard and American Legion Post #7. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Memorials in memory of Lyle may be made the American Cancer Foundation, 333 S. Beach St., Casper, WY 82601; "Feed the Children", or the Veterans at the V. A. Medical Center, 1898 Fort Rd., Sheridan, WY 82801.
