Margie G. Rogers passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan, Wyoming. At ninety one years young, Margie possessed a youthful attitude and a flamboyant, inspirational personality. She was very much loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Margie was born to Jacob and Amanda (Graff0 Achenbach in Dayton, Wyoming in 1921. She grew up in Dayton and attended Dayton High School. There, she taught Sunday School and met Arnold Shearin, Jr., a United States Marine. In June of 1941, she and Arnold wed in Hardin, Montana. Born to them were two sons, George H. Shearin and A. Terry Shearin.
After three short years of marriage, Arnold Shearin, Jr. was killed in active duty, and Margie moved to Port Arthur, Texas to re-0build a life for herself and her two sons. It was there that she met Thomas D. Rogers, whom she wed in September 1945. Together, they had two children, R. Danny Rogers and Shelley A. Rogers (Barbula).
Margie was preceded in death by her sisters, Murrel Achenbach, Elsie Fauver, Myrtle Sawyer, Jessie Green, Isabelle Olsen, Grace Jones, and Vera Smith, by her brothers, Lloyd and Lester Achenbach, and by a grand daughter, Kristina Shearin.. She is survived by her four children, twelve grandchildren, and twenty four great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Margie has been a beautician, a housewife, a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a friend, a wife, and a wonderful soul with a big heart.who lived life to its fullest potential. She was an outgoing member of the Eagles Club and was a long-standing member of the VFW. She loved playing games of all sorts, such as bingo and cards, and she loved working on arts and crafts in her spare time. In her younger years, she loved to sing both in church as well as on the radio. There, was, perhaps, nothing she enjoyed more throughout her life, however, than laughing with her family and friends, of whom she has had many Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
