Richard W. Schumacher

Richard W. Schumacher, 82, of Dayton, Wyoming passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at his home after a short illness.

Dick was born on May 1, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Walter and Emma Schumacher. He grew up and attended school in the Chicago area. He joined the United States Army on April 28, 1953 and was honorably discharged on April 24, 1955.

On May 7, 1955, Dick married the love of his life, June Gallup. They lived in Addison, Illinois where they raised their son, Glenn. Dick owned a service station prior to joining the Addison Fire department in 1959. He retired from the Fire department in 1989, and he and June moved to Dayton where they built their dream cabin at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains. They enjoyed life, hunting and fishing. He was very active in the Sheridan County Sportsman’s Association. He enjoyed working with wood, and was always working on a project for friends or family.

Mr. Schumacher was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, June and his son, Glenn. He is survived by his grandson, Ross Schumacher; his granddaughters, Dana (Jeremy) Landes and Kelly McCormick; his great-grandson, Jericho; and his daughter in law, Kristy Schumacher.

At Mr. Schumacher’s request there will be no services. Memorials in memory of Dick Schumacher may be made to: the Sheridan County Sportsman’s Association, PO Box 155, Sheridan, WY 82801.
