Stella B. Withrow

Stella Byrtus Withrow, 94, passed away at her home Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
Mrs. Withrow was born to Paul and Anna (Rucki) Byrtus on December 12, 1918 in Sheridan, Wyoming. She attended the Rock Creek School at Ucross, Wyoming and graduated from Clearmont High School in 1935. Stella then attended Hyman’s Business College in Sheridan.
She married James Y. Withrow on June 24, 1948 in Denver, Colorado. Stella was employed as a bank teller at the Bank of Commerce, worked at Woolworth’s, and M. D. U.
Mrs. Withrow was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, Daughters of the Nile, was active in the Sheridan County Republican Women, and the Church of the Holy Trinity, AARP and volunteered at the Senior Center for many years. She enjoyed wood-working, sewing, fishing, walking and traveling.
Stella was preceded in death by her husband, James Y. Withrow; a son, Bruce Allen Withrow; her parents; brother Joe Byrtus and his wife, Harriett, brothers Paul W., John L., and Lt. Col. Joe Byrtus; sisters Helen Delf, Emeline McCormick, and Anne Byrtus.
She is survived by her son David Withrow, (Marilyn); grandchildren Shirley (Duane) Dennis, Christopher Withrow, and Stephanie Willey; sister-in-law Ethel Byrtus; three grandchildren, Ethan and Alexus Willey, and Allison Withrow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Memorials in memory of Mrs. Withrow may be made to the Sheridan Senior Center, 211 Smith St., the Sheridan Dog and Car Shelter, 84 E. Ridge Rd, Sheridan, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
