Thorlene C. Calkins, 87, of Sheridan, WY died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Thorlene was born September 27, 1926, in Sheridan to Jacob & Thora (Olsen) Markert.
Thorlene grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan. She then graduated from Colorado Womens College. She married Herb Calkins on August 18, 1949, in Sheridan. They ranched in Montana for several years. They lived in several places after leaving the ranch until settling in Casper, WY where she taught school. In 1980, they moved back to Sheridan, into the house her father built in 1930 when she was four years old, on NB Avenue. Herb died in 1999. She sold the house on NB Avenue and moved to Joy Street.
Thorlene was loved by all and will be missed. She was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening and reading and loved her family.
Thorlene is also preceded in death by her daughter Tina; David Lawrence; sisters Rita and Nelda; and brother Jack.
Thorlene is survived by her sons Micheal and Mark of Sheridan and one grandson Jake.
Memorial service will be 2:00pm on Wednesday (Dec. 11th) from First Christian Church with the Rev. Doug Goodwin officiating.
