Vickie Lynn Knapp, 65, of Sheridan, WY died Sunday, January 5, 2014, in Greenhouse Living of Sheridan.

Vickie was born December, 5, 1948, in Roswell, NM to Fleetwood & Helen (Pinkerton) Cornell.

Vickie grew up in Odessa, TX and moved to Farmington, NM as a teen, where she graduated high school one year ahead of her class (1966). She was married to Rex Henderson from 1967 – 1968 later was married to Joe Knapp from 1971 – 1991. Vickie was a bookkeeper for several businesses. Later in life she graduated from Sheridan College receiving an associate degree in Social Work with a 4.0gpa. Vickie worked for Mental Health of Sheridan with children, the Wyo. Girl’s School and at Wystar as a social worker. She was a volunteer for the Women’s Advocacy Center and worked on the Women’s Abuse Hotline. Vickie loved classical rock music, spending time in the mountain and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Vickie was preceded in death by her father Fleetwood Cornell and her grandson Steven French.

Vickie is survived by her son Toby Knapp of Sheridan; daughters Tracy French of Sheridan, Tana Hurlburt of Ely, NV and Greta Knapp of Sheridan; brothers Larry Cornell of Tempe, AZ and Robert Cornell of Grand Junction, CO; sisters Kay Neugebauer of Mesa, AZ and Evelyn Taylor of Handford, CA; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be later this spring in the mountains.
