Walter D. Harper died October 7, 2013 in Sheridan, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 1, 1918 on a homestead in Pinto, Montana to Ray S. and Josie (Griffen) Harper, and grew up on the family ranch in Moorhead, Montana.
In 1945 he married Arian Cox. They were married for 68 long and happy years on their ranch west of Sheridan where they raised four children. Besides running his ranch, Walter worked construction and drove truck for several years.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy, and brothers Lewis and Tom.
Walter is survived by his wife Arian; sister Willie Holbert of Powell, WY; sons Terry (Pam) and Wayne (Pamela) of Sheridan; daughters Eljo (Cliff Lawrence) of Andover, MA; and Gayle (Tom Vopat) of Hayden Lake, ID; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1:00pm on Friday (Oct. 11th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell White officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
