William "Bill" F. Christiansen

About:

Bill peacefully joined the angels among us on Friday, April 8, 2016. He joined this world on Oct. 6, 1945. The fourth, and youngest child of William R. Christiansen and Ruby A. Christiansen. Both of whom have preceded him into Heaven, as well as his sisters, Helen Martin and Marjorie Feistner.

He graduated from Three Forks High School and joined the United States Air Force as a B52 mechanic, and safely returned home to his family. Bill worked for Milwaukee Railroad, then BNSF Railroad until his retirement in 2003. Retired… hardly, Bill volunteered at the First Christian Thrift Store, became a fulltime Grandfather and Great-Grandfather/Papa. Retirement gave him the time for golfing, fishing, and traveling with his wife, children, family and friends.

In 1977 on February 13th, Bill married Dell McCallum and added two more children to his wild bunch of three: Lee R. Christiansen, J. Doug Christiansen, Phil Harvey, Dawn Fitzpatrick and Janelle Harvey. Giving up on chasing the dream of a Bronc rider, he settled into being a family man. Having moved from Three Forks to Butte back to Three Forks then eventually in 1980, settled down in Gillette, Wyoming. Bill and Dell then moved to Sheridan, Wyoming, in 1999, where they have happily retired.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dell; brother, Glen Christiansen; sons, Lee (Linda) Christiansen, Doug (Tammy) Christiansen, and Phil (Heather) Harvey; daughters, Dawn (Jim) Fitzpatrick and Janelle Harvey; 11 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill valued nothing more than his family and friends. Even his pets were family to him. He cheered for the Denver Broncos, Boston Celtics, and Jordan Spieth. His hobbies, included: bareback riding (younger years), golfing, fishing, camping, horseshoes, thrift store repairs, pinochle, and woodworking.

The man who could light up a room or brighten anyone's day with a quick witty comment or just a smile, will be greatly missed. "Pick yourself up, dust off your britches, get back on and Ride."

Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at First Christian Church, 102 S. Connor St., in Sheridan, WY with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill's name to: First Christian Church, 102 S. Connor St., Sheridan, WY 82801 or Sheridan Cat & Dog Shelter, 84 E. Ridge Rd., Sheridan, WY 82801.
