Effie Ann Rexroat

Effie Ann Rexroat, 94, passed away at Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan Wyoming.  Services will be held at a later date.  

Effie was born on March 29, 1925 in Geneseo,IL to Ursula Alice (Taets) and Arvid M. Dirck; the second of five children.  She graduated from Geneseo High School and attended Rock Island Business College.  

She worked at Rock Island Ordnance Depot for three years during WWII.   Following her marriage to Paul R. Cayton, she worked as a civil service employee for the Air Force at various bases where he was stationed until he retired in the mid 70’s. She married Emmit F. Geer in December 1971.   He died in February 1995.  Effie married Richard Lee Rexroat in February of 1997. They spent their time in Arizona and Wyoming before retiring in Sheridan, WY.  

Effie enjoyed traveling, dancing,reading, playing card games, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends.  She corresponded with friends from all over the country.  She volunteered for years at the International Hot Balloon Festival held in Albuquerque, N Meach October.  Any family member who visited during the festival also had the privilege and fun of working at the Gray Panther souvenir tent.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Rexroat,daughters; Jennifer (Larry) Bear of Warren, OH, Sandra (Tom) Moody of Georgetown, DE, Coleen (Bill) Boswick of Ocala, FL, Coreen Cayton of Memphis,TN, Sherri (Steve) Haley of Walcott, IA, and sons; Paul Michael Cayton of Vancouver, WA and Jeffrey (Jacque) Cayton of Soldotna, AK, stepsons: Rick and Pat Rexroat and a very special step daughter-in-law, Nancy Rexroat.  Nine grandchildren, Jody, Tommy, Doug,Michael, Melissa, Alisha, Hollie, Ricky and Kristi.  Twelve great grandchildren, Olivia, Joseph,Cherin, Madison, Zachary, Maddi, Lucas, Cheyenne, Logan, Alisa, Kaleb and Lila.Eleven step grandchildren, 22 step great grandchildren and two great-great step grandchildren.  One sister, Carol (Pat) Koegler;sister-in-law Bonnie Dirck, numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Lisa Boole; granddaughter, Stacy Bear; brothers Harley(Farmer) and Wilbur Dirck; Sister, Aileen White; daughter in-law, Jane Mille rCayton and stepsons, Larry and Rusty Rexroat.

Donations may be made to the HUB on Smith, (Senior Center), 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.  Services will be held at a later date. Champion Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.  Online condolences may be written at www.championfh.com.
