About:
Elaine Avery, 87, of Sheridan, WY passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Elaine was born in Belden, ND on August 10, 1924 to Ina and Oscar Lofgren. She graduated from Cook (MN) High School in 1942, the University of Minnesota in 1946 and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Wyoming in 1962. She was married to William Avery in 1950.
Elaine was the Dietitian at Sheridan Memorial Hospital, taught Home Economics and Nutrition at Sheridan College and was a representative for New York Life at the end of her work life.
She was proud of her selection to the Wyoming Governor’s Committee on the Status of Women, her involvement with All-American Indian Days and her spearheading of Meals on Wheels program in Sheridan.
She is survived by her husband Bill Avery of Sheridan, WY; three sons: Ned Avery of Denver, CO, Jon Avery of Lexington, KY, and Mark Avery of Champagne, IL; one sister: Yvonne Prill of Ranchester, WY; and three grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 14th, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating, where she was a long time member. Interment will be in the Masonic Section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
Memorials may benefit Sheridan Senior Center Meals on Wheels program.
