Marlys A. Fox, 85, of Sheridan passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, MT. She was born April 12, 1935 in Kindred North Dakota to parents David and Bernice Hedland. David died in WWII and Hank Schiffner became a great step-father.
Marlys married Joe W. Fox Jr. on November 30, 1958 in Edgemont, SD. They had four children and were life partners to the end of her life.
Marlys loved reading, was committed to teaching Sunday school and choir at the Congregational Church in Edgemont, planting her summer flowers, working in her wood shop in the winter and having as many kids and grandkids she could around at all times. She enjoyed cooking for family get togethers and having family around always. She had an infectious laugh that made others laugh with her. She enjoyed being with friends and family and most all with her husband Joe. Marlys was considered everyone’s mom, she would treat everyone as if they were one of her own children.
Marlys is preceded in death by her parents David Hedland, Hank and Bernice Schiffner, sister Betty Ann Hedland and brother Duane Hedland. Marlys is survived by her husband of 60 years of marriage Joe W. Fox, Jr., brother Robert Dale (Arlie) Hedland, Sister-in-Law Jeanie Hedland, children: Mark (Lacia) Fox, Bret (Debby) Fox, Jerry (Pattie) Fox, Jeanie (Allan Trumbull) Fox. Numerous grandkids, great grandkids, great, great grandkids, nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Champions funeral home on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 10:30 am with Reverend Dr. Sheila Naismith officiating.
