Pearle H. Schultz

Pearle Henriksen Schultz, age 94, a resident of Big Horn for the past twenty years and formerly of Miami Florida, died on July 22, 2013.
Pearle was born in 1918 in Havre, Montana. The middle child of the late Anne and Louis G. Henriksen, she moved to Racine, Wisconsin and attended the public schools of Racine and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison , with a B.S. Degree. She later received a Masters Degree from the
University of Miami.
Pearle married Harry Pershing Schultz, a research chemist, in a wartime wedding September 25, 1943 in Trinity Methodist-Episcopal Church in Racine, Wisconsin.
They were summer residents of Big Horn starting in 1982; when Dr. Schultz retired as Emeritus Professor from the University of Miami in 1992 they moved to Big Horn full time.
Pearle has served as a classroom teacher, guidance counselor, principal, and liaison to college boards, headmistress of an independent college prep school, and a supervisor of curriculum for Miami- Dade County Public Schools in Florida. She is the author of eight published biographies and novels, professional articles in education, and poetry. Her poems have appeared in four anthologies and she enjoyed writing book reviews for the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library.
She has been a member of the authors Guild of America since 1962. A life-long member of the Methodist Church she is currently affiliated with the First United Methodist Church of Sheridan. She enjoyed knitting intricate Aran sweaters for friends and family, reading, and writing.
She is survived by her husband, Harry, of 69 years of marriage, and three adult children: Alison Mohns (Steven) of Mount Vernon, WA; Dr. Tor Schultz (Dr. Emily) of Starkville, MS; and Stephanie Buehler (Richard) of Big Horn; and three grandchildren: Anne Mohns-Bobich (Josh); Charlotte Buehler; Carl Mohns (Lindsey), two great grand children, cousins, and a very special friend, Nancy Cole Wessling.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church at 10 am on Friday, August 2, 2013, with burial in Mound Cemetery, Racine, Wisconsin.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Sheridan Memorial Hospital Hospice, Sheridan Library, or Sheridan Senior Center for the celebration of Pearle's life.
