Rebecca "Becky" Bell, 91, died at Westview Health Care Center on Friday, June 5, 2015.
Rebecca Corrine Johnson Bell was born November 22, 1923 in Minneota, Lyon County, Minnesota to Magnas D. Johnson and Alida Marie Amundson Johnson. Becky graduated from Minneota Public schools in 1941 and attended Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis graduating in 1942.
Following her graduation, Becky worked as a secretary for the president of First State Bank, Stordin, MN, and as a stenographer, loan officer, and teller at Marquette Bank in Minneapolis.
Rebecca married her sweetheart, Edward Raymond Bell, in Mason, Iowa on January 29, 1947. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Duane Bruce, Susan Dianne, Mark Allen and Richard Edward.
The family moved to Sheridan in 1958. While in Sheridan, Becky worked at Peter Kiewit and Sons and at the Sheridan Veteran's Administration Medical Hospital as a secretary-receptionist. She retired from the VA Hospital.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward Bell, one grandson, Brent Edward Matthews, two brothers, Daniel Milton Johnson and Ambros R. Johnson and four sisters, Alice Ethel Johnson Furgeson, Rachel Elizabeth Johnson LaPolice, Mildred Lucille Johnson Mootz, and Ellen Ann Johnson McDowell. She is survived by her daughter Susan Bell Matthews (Joe) of Provo, Utah, her sons Duane Bruce Bell (Janice) of Butte, Montana, Mark Allen Bell (Lois) of Sheridan and Richard Edward Bell of Clearmont. She is survived by six grandchildren, Amy (Bell) Ow, Kenny Bell, Christien Bell, Dawson Bell, Jimmy Matthews and David Matthews and 13 great-grandchildren.
Rebecca was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheridan. She belonged to the Good Sams' Club, Bot Sots, Jeans and Queens Square Dance Club and the Sheridan Does.
A celebration of life for Becky will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, on Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Becky requested no viewing and to be cremated. Champion Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to either Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 Crescent Drive, Sheridan, 82801 or to the Sheridan Senior Center, 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, 82801. Becky will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Ed, in the Elk's Cemetery at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
