Smoky Schroeder
About:
Smoky Schroeder passed away peacefully on Thursday, 10/26/2023 at 3:45 pm with a smile on her face at home in Story, WY. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and beloved animals. The world lost a loving soul with a huge heart, she will be greatly missed by all.
She was born on 8/20/1958 in Sheridan, WY to Kent and Virginia Reindahl. She grew up in Story, WY. Smoky attended Story TECH (elementary), Sheridan High School and Sheridan College. She earned her certificate as a Certified Massage Therapist. Smoky worked several jobs over the years. She worked as a mom to the entire town, a bartender (Mixologist), and a self-taught psychiatrist to almost everyone that she interacted with. You all got cheap advice with the cost of a tip. With her intuitive and observational skills, she knew exactly what we all needed in life. Unfortunately, this gift that she had led her to only focus on others and not herself. Which led us all to lose her before we were ready but God has other plans. She was a volunteer for several programs; Story School, Woman’s Club, Story Recycling Program and an advocate for mental health. She worked as a summer flagger, a housecleaner and most recently THEE cashier at the Story Store. She helped plan many Story Days, haunted houses, Easter egg hunts and general fun for kids and adults, year ‘round. She had recently found a new found love for God, enjoying The Cowboy Church where she is loved by all. Smoky’s hobbies included; PAN card group, league bowling, gardening, artistic projects. Helping her community and spending time with her family was one of her greatest pleasures in life. With her gone, we all hope everyone continues on with her legacy to take care of each other.
Smoky is survived by her daughter; Jessica Catherine Michelle Sandborn, two sons; Michael James Kent Sandborn (Jenny), Jedidiah Michael Sandborn (Destiney), 7 grandsons; Coalson Kent Smoky Blakely, Hunter James Lundy Sandborn, Thatcher Joseph Sandborn, Mavrik Lee Sandborn, Karter Michael Sandborn, AlderMoon James Sandborn, Hawthorne Michael Thomas Sandborn and one on the way. She is also survived by her siblings; Debbie Matteson, Jim Reindahl (Cindy), and Cathy Niner (Kurt).
Smoky is preceded in death by her parents; Kent and Virginia Reindahl, grandparents and her first husband, Michael Joseph Sandborn. Cory Ray Russel Loerch was Smoky’s bonus son who passed away a week before her to guide her into heaven (10/20/2023), now they can watch over us all together.
